*smiles* One of my friends in grade school was called
Anna (Ah-nah), so that's the way I've always thought
of it. When I see an Anna on paper, I always read it
as "Ah-nah". Freaks out the Ann-nah types, I tell yah
-- they just don't see it coming.

<LOL> I bet not! I usually double-take when someone
gets it right. Oh, and of course, everyone thinks my
name is Donna if I say it, so that doesn't really
help.
And then there's my last name...Swingen. Just like it
looks. So there you have it, I've got a preposition
for a first name and a verb for a last name. If my
middle name were a noun, I'd be a sentence!

Also, I get quite irate when called Laurie. More so
than Lauren. I'm not really sure why, it just makes
me feel hostile. *is very weird, admits it*

My mother, Jennifer, absolutely refuses to be called
"Jenny" for any reason and by any person. Which doesn't
stop the really determined people. I think it's kind of
like the Kimberly/Kim thing mentioned earlier - some
people feel the need to shorten it even without
permission.
'Course, Jenny is at least a logical shortening of
Jennifer. I can't imagine where people get Lauren or
Laurie out of Laura. Then again, Laura always makes me
think of Laura Palmer whereas Laurie makes me think of
Piper Laurie, so as a Twin Peaks freak, I have reason
to differentiate. <G>
