You mentioned it and it didn't get through, eh? Could he be
pretending it didn't get through?
What he may be figuring is that if he does some of your dishes, that
would be setting a precedent (he might in fact be quite willing to do
them more than he does), and then he would *have* to do them as a
rule. Permanent shift in the balance. He can't reasonably say to
your face that he's not going to do them, so he becomes unaccountably
deaf and forgetful.
In general where there is any job that needs doing, the one who needs
it less is in the stronger negotiating position for division of
labour and kudos for doing it. Hence Jenny's relative ease at
getting Raul to pitch in.
