Harry's Daemon (from Pullman's trilogy)

My guesses:

Hermione: Peregrine falcon - wise, sharp eyed, agile. Anyway, if a
lion, then a lion, not a lioness - all daemons are opposite gender.

Ron: I can see the vixen - but it's too easy to go with the red
thing. I prefer a bear - loyal, quick tempered, a bit vengeful. I
hope not a rhinoceros.

Harry: much, much harder. A doe would fit, I suppose, but something
slower yet more powerful... bison?

Of the others, Hagrid: a dove perhaps? Dumbledore, a parrot? wisdom,
longevity, speech (OK, so all daemons can speak); or an owl? even a
she-elephant? - think of that nurturing leadership - could be a
problem in the office...

David, a bat or small monkey
