cellphones and madness

Since we have hardly any coverage out here, it's easy to forget how
intrusive cell phones are. During our visits to the big city for
Costco/mall trips, I'm always surprised by what appears to be someone
hunched over (in pain?!) talking to themselves. As I push my cart towards
them, it becomes quite clear that they aren't in pain - they're confused or
perhaps crazy. They're clearly talking to the floor? Oh. Nope. Their
ears must be paining them as they have a strange device clamped on one and
a finger stuffed into the other one. Most odd. Must be solar flares.
