At 01:31 AM 1/30/02 +0000, Dracos' boyfriend aka Al sent an interesting recipe:
The confused American has to ask:
> 1 lb castor sugar
Is this the same thing as the sugar we get in a sack or a bag at the
market? It's just labeled "sugar". Is this a superfine variety? It's not
the nasty powdered stuff, is it?
> 1 ounce leaf gelatin
Can anyone translate "leaf gelatin" into American food speak? Is this
plain gelatin like the stuff Knox markets?
> Carmine
Carmine = food coloring? I read the directions and it sounds like it.
Does icing sugar = powdered sugar?
I'd like to give this a try. I would never admit it, but I like
cooking. Well, I like making non nutritious stuff like this. "Real"
cooking around here involves handling raw meat. Ick.
