I absolutely agree with Luke. The Magician's Nephew works much better with
the hindsight you get after reading the other books (TLWW and TSC
especially) than if you read TMN and then the others. There is a particular
moment of epiphany in TMN (fellow Narnians may know the one I mean...) that
is quite sublime.
