Me too.  Elkins said it pretty well in her main list contribution to 
the FF vs TBAY thread a few days ago.

However, I feel that JKR does little to discourage this sort of 
activity - I'd say she revels in dropping ambiguous hints almost 
designed to cause the listener to be sucked into a vortex of ever-
more-microscopic speculation.
