I have just the book for you!  "Holy Blood, Holy Grail" by Michael 
Baigent, Richard Leigh, and Henry Lincoln came out in the early 
1980s.  I read it then, and bought a copy which I've read several 
times since then.  It's fascinating and very well-researched, quite 
enjoyable whether you believe its premise or not. Amazon has it --
