Hey there, :-)
Sorry to hear about the break-up, Grindie...those things are never fun.
IMO, if the both can't see eye to eye on the little things, the same will
often be true on the big. This doesn't mean that both have to love each
other's hobbies, but respect and support is a definite must! :-)
In my case, I guess I'm blessed that my husband and I love many of the same
things, including HP. I'm a lot more into the fandom aspect than he is, but
he wouldn't turn down a midnight bookstore run just to see what was going on
there. <Grin>
He's not one to get memorabilia and such, but if he sees that I'd like to
get something, or knows of something I'd enjoy, and the price isn't truly
prohibitive, it's mine. He's always been like that, with my Battlestar
Galactica fandom, too.
In fact, one time I had given him a "book" (a very long fanfic story) I had
written and not quite finished for him to proofread and look at. He'd never
read it or anything and had said he'd look at it in a sort of non-committal
way. Figured he'd probably look at it...the next week or something.
Well, one night, both of us were having problems sleeping...me with a
migraine and he with whatever and, unbeknownst to me, had started reading my
story.
I had gone into the kitchen to grab another pain-killer and he came in and
told me I was a "terrible person for keeping him up so late with such a
great story!" Ah...even with a migraine, that made me feel good.
Anyway, Art's been good to me, and knows that I support his Barbershop
singing and all, so we make a good team. :-)
Cheers,
Lee :-)
