I would say that my family and friends accept, in a general sort of way,
my obsession with HP, but they don't really participate.  I get a lot of
the rolling-of-the-eyes kind of thing whenever I bring up anything even
remotely related to the story lines.  And, God forbid they catch me
watching one of the DVDs.  I feel like I've been caught watching porn!  :)

Funny thing happened the other day, though.  For Christmas, I bought my 17
year old son, who LOVES dragons, a book called "Dragonology".  He loved
it.  I was looking over his shoulder and asked him, jokingly, if they had
Hungarian Horntails or Norwegian Ridgebacks in there and he said, in all
seriousness, "Mom, those are make-believe dragons.  They wouldn't be in
here." 

This from my brilliant, Kettering University presidential scholarship
winning, 17 year old son.  

Uh huh. 

It took him a few seconds to realize what he'd said, but I'll be reminding
him of it for years to come.  :)
