Just curious, where are you? Not your exact address, just get me in
the country or state.
Driver's tests in most of Europe, from my limited knowledge, are not
only very difficult but the License is also very expense, frequently
amounting to a few hundred US dollars.
Also, you had the misfortune of getting a very strict, and possibly
slightly vindictive tester, that makes all the difference in the
world. There used to be one tester (highway patrolman) in a county
near my home town who was notoriously lenient in giving the driving
test. People used to come from 30 miles around to take their test from
him. Basically, if you could drive a couple of blocks without passing
out dead drunk, you passed the test. That was back before the days of
Driver's Education too.
I lived in rural Iowa and Minnesota, and most kids learned to drive on
the farm. Indeed many of them started driving when they were about 10.
Even myself, who was a town kid, drove a car at age 10. In fact, at
that time, many of the 'farm' states had a special provision for a
'Farm License' which would allow farm kids to drive on unpaved country
roads at a very young age (13 or 14, I think).
Keep practicing, and hope for a better tester next time.
By the way, I think I got something like a 74 on my driver's test, you
need 70 out of 100 to pass.
