Really interesting post, Jen. I like your analysis. But I'm curious
about one thing:

Did they ever mention *modern* methods of natural birth control?
Because I've never heard of any sex ed that did. The rhythm method is
1930s (or earlier?) technology -- critiquing that is like using the
Model T to explain the risks of driving.
I like the modern method because I know what's going on with my body,
and it's good for getting pregnant when you want or showing when there
might be something wrong. It's no use for preventing diseases, of
course, but if you're married, and don't like the thought of taking
hormones all the time, it has advantages that no other method does. I
resent the fact that I never heard of it for *years* after I'd had all
my sex ed (back in the '70s), especially because that silence was
ideological, from people whose purported purpose was to give students
all the info they needed to make an informed decision. Can you say
"hypocrisy?"
