Gee, I picked up this thread late. But since I've been living in Israel for about 13 years, just had to respond. I just moved from Jerusalem to a small northern Negev town. I've never attempted driving here, but have always risked my life as a pedestrian. In spite of what you're taught in driving lessons, no one has ever stopped, at least for me, while I stood and waited to cross in Jerusalem's crosswalks. But, miracle of miracles, my first day here, every single car stopped and allow me to cross the street, and this has continued to happen! Glad to see that somewhere our tough driving standards are being upheld. But, on the other hand, have a feeling that a lot of good wizards are living here in the Negev. I'm almost sure I saw a Quidditch field out of the corner of my eye...
