Well, it's in the US so less interesting to your question, but my 
entire department would be completely and utterly non-functional 
without coffee.  People are eternally late to meetings and talks 
because they are going to get coffee.  I don't drink the stuff myself 
other than very, very occasionally, because it makes me twitch.  
Literally.  And I am high-strung enough--I don't NEED 12 espresso 
shots to be awake and argumentative for class.

I'm addicted to the rooibos tea they have in my dining hall, 
instead...
