Don't worry, I don't think you will be disapointed. I enjoyed Eragon as did my sons (11 & 12) and my husband. As I am not an avid reader, it took me a while to get used to the new terminology. People, places and some things in the fictional world where Eragon lives are difficult to get used to. I suppose that is one reason I am so comfortable with HP. Once you understand things like muggles, hippogriffs and bubotubers it's all down hill for the next few books.
As to the "early release": We were in Target yesterday buying school supplies and making plans to buy Eldest on the 23rd. We went to the book department and there it was in all its red glory. Only 14.85!
I promised my son he could read it first, I just hope he reads quickly!
Enjoy,
Leeann

Well, I broke down and ordered Eragon and Eldest this evening from
Amazon. I hope I'm not disappointed, as the reviews seem mixed,
though they are mostly favorable. Ironic how I am a complete Potter
fanatic, yet I'll typically avoid anything else in the "children's"
catagory.
I find it interesting how some people have already received Eldest,
though it doesn't officially publish till 23 August. Early today, it
looked as though one could order from Amazon.uk for immediate shipment.
Someone in amazon's chain of US and international sites apparently
made a mistake.
