Cheers, HPfGU! (sipping butterbeer) This should be fun!

My name is Celia, although my screen name is cdayr and I've
signed all my posts as CDR, which are (surprise!) my initials. I
had a burst of supreme uncreativity when it came to signing my
first post. What a shame. I've since looked on Potioncat's
signature with admiration, always admired Kneasy as a fab
name as well, and Siriusly Snapey Susan- I love a pun. I guess
I'll have to put up with just being me.

If I lived in the Potterverse I would likely be exactly what I am in
RL, a teacher. I'd request that I work primarily with the first
and
second years, as my area of interest lies with that age group. I
suspect I would be continue to be quite a nerd about Astronomy,
so perhaps I could teach that, or maybe Ancient Runes or
Arithmancy. What I'd really like to do is bring a little art and
literature into these young wizards lives- so much study without
much beauty! But I'll settle. Alternatively, I'd work at
Flourish and
Blott's as a bookseller.

Ooo, can any of us really know what we'd see in the Mirror of
Erised? That would be some deep self-knowledge. I'll guess
I'd
see something in the way of me amongst a group of friends and
family, feeling content and at peace. Boring, but true. Or me
winning an Oscar. Or going to the moon. One of those.

My boggart
well, it might turn into a few students I've had
over
the years (kidding!). So many of the things I am afraid of are
ideas rather than physical things (i.e. being locked in a
windowless room, eaten by bear, etc) I am very afraid of axes, so
maybe it would turn into one?

My patronus would be strongest if I thought to some of my
memories of being out in the backcountry, hiking and being in
the amazing wilderness of the western US. Perhaps the moment
I reached the crest of a moraine and looked down on my first
glacier, after hiking a torturous two days with my husband, and
just crying at the beauty. That would probably work.

My patronus would be
ummm
my protective turtle? I've
never
thought about this one.

As an animagus, I would be some sort of bird, I'm thinking heron
or egret- long legged and goofy looking, but graceful when flying
and pretty smart.

What wouldn't I want in Diagon Alley? Sign me up for a wand!

Times being what they are
I love blackberry jam. I love most
berry jams actually.

I have many ambitions: become a principal, touch the
Cretaceous-Tertiary boundary, see an erupting volcano, read
every Dickens novel, have a family, summit a mountain, have
life-long friends, make a feature film, oh I can go on forever

In HP book-land: My favorite book is GOF with POA and HBP in
close contention for second. I am a huge fan of Lupin, pre-Tonks
and out of the closet, but I currently, like us all, am obsessed
with what an amazing character Snape is, and Lupin had better
do something pretty darn great in book 7 to win me back. I'm
still
in such a muddle about what happened in HBP that I still haven't
posted about it- I will eventually.

I joined HPfGU in summer of 2004, after a crazy evening
discovering the world of HP on-line. I am still very proud of my
first post #106761, even though it is just junk now (some
complicated thing about Hagrid and eggs he hatches and
Aragog being used like Norbert to get info for Voldy) but I thought
about it a ton and am still proud of the idea. I regret a moment of
madness while in denial about Sirius when I accused
Dumbledore of firing the fatal shot at him in the MoM. (I was
grieving, give me a break.)

One of my favorite posts I've ever read here is still the idea
that
Petunia was born on February 29 and will finally have her 11th
birthday and be invited to Hogwarts. I wish I remembered whose
idea that was so I could point to a post and credit you, but it
remains brilliant.

In my non-HP life, I'm quite artsy-crafty (lately it's been
mosaics
and stained glass) and I read all the time. I teach science and
math (and other things) at an elementary school. I'm married
and have a very fat and noisy cat. I love geology and
paleontology, I'm an occasional actor, and work on art films
some with my hubby. I like shopping at Ikea. I want to go to
Iceland. I'm an INFP, would be sorted into Ravenclaw, and would
get stuck listening to Trelawney babble on and on because I'd
be too nice to walk away.

But enough about me
how are you?

-CDR
