I'm watching this now and it's fascinating how important the 'villain'
is and they're talking about how the villain can be the character that
brings 'humanity' to a story.

To place it into an HP context, look at the various discussions on...
Snape and Voldemort and even the Malfoys.  The flawed and selfish
characters bring elements stereotypical to the average person.  They
also make a person curious as to the reasons why they're the way they
are.
