Hm; did the owners of those groups say straight out that the
groups were deleted by Yah and they had no idea why? The times
I know of Yah deleting a group with no word to the owner were
because they'd gotten a complaint from a user (legitimate or not:
complaint = deleted group). They used to react in basically a
'shoot first, ask questions later' kind of way, and may still do
this primarily for all I know, but they *have* been taking the
wonderful new stance of taking input from their users (members,
mods, owners), listening to us more, giving more weight to
feedback, etc., in the last several months.

[I should add, the complaints were typically that the group was
posting 'inappropriate' stuff and was not categorized as an
'adult' group, and/or the group was doing something against Yah's
TOS & Guidelines, not just of the 'they're being mean to me'
variety. <g>]

Anyway, if these owners feel their groups were deleted in error,
they should email Yah about it, and keep at them until they get a
satisfactory reason or result.
