I have always held onto a fantasy that it lives in the Forbidden
Forest with the Flying Ford Anglia, where they are bringing up a
little family of motorbikes with sidecars.

I don't believe Hagrid can apparate. He's not fully qualified and
it's quite advanced, tricky magic. But as he was able to operate the
boat by means of the fragments of wand hidden in his umbrella, it's
quite possible he was able to have some object fly there similarly.
Or else he did it like Mary Poppins.
If he got to the island on the motorbike, thestral or Portkey, then
why take the boat back?
And why did we never hear about the Dursleys being stranded?
