Sorry it has taken so long to respond but it was Valentine's Day.
Harry’s Discovery
If HBP has something to do with a discovery Harry made in Book two “Chamber
of Secrets” than here is my two knuts worth.
JKR has given us the name of three HBP chapters. I would like to dwell on
Chapter Six “Draco’s Detour”.
When Harry takes an accidental detour from the Burrow via the Floo System he
winds up in Knockturn Alley sprawled on the floor of Bogin & Burkes. After a
quick look around and before he can leave he sees the Malfoys. He hides so
he doesn’t have to confront the pair. Now the fun begins.
Skip Lucious and go directly to Draco…
Draco has been told to “touch nothing”. Of course he’s a kid in a candy
store and wants everything. He ask his father if he can have “the withered
hand on it’s cushion”. Mr. Borgin is delighted exclaiming “Ah, the Hand of
Glory!” “Insert a cadle and it gives light only to the holder. Best friend of
thieves and plunders!” Lucious doesn’t buy it for him saying he would hope
his son would amount to more than that. However, if his grades don’t pick up
that may be all he’s fit for! (little side note: Isn’t Dean Thomas’ boggart
a severed hand?) Anyway, Draco’s response is always to blame his problems on
someone else..this time Hermoine. Saying the teachers prefer her.
Now further down on the page he comes across “a magnificent necklace of opals
”. With a sign that says, “Caution: Do Not Touch. Cursed – Has claimed the
lives of nineteen muggle owners to date”. If there’s something JKR wants
you to notice she will either Italicize a line or not finish a sentence.
If, and I said ‘If’ someone is going to die in Book Six could it be a
muggle? What better way for Draco to try and get rid of Hermoine and get back at
Harry than to kill off Hermoine’s Mom by sending the necklace to her.
Remember it says Muggle owners and not Witches. If he succeeds in doing that it will
open up a whole string of events including the wrath of Arthur Weasley
because of his love of muggles.
I could go on and on but I’m not writing a editorial.
So, in a nutshell, I feel the discovery Harry made and 'Draco's Detour'
could be the “little shop of horrors’ in Knockturn Alley called Borgin & Burkes.
