I'm curious why you asked for someone from Australia, are you in
Australia, is this a Australian recipe?

Muesli is a very popular breakfast cereal in Europe, and is made
primarily of rolled oats. It's not made of 'flake' cereal, it looks
more like dry oatmeal. Rolled oats are also typically the base for
Granola, but Muesli is very dry and loose, whereas, Granola has honey
or suger added to 'glue' the little clumps of granola together.

The most popular brand of true muesli in the USA, and also available
nearly everywhere in the world, is Familia Brand ...

It consists of ....

Oat flakes, wheat flakes, barley flakes, dried raisins, shredded whole
wheat and rye, hazelnuts, dates, apples, bananas, almonds.

If you search Google, you will find several sites that have recipies
for making your own Muesli. That should give you a clue as to what's
in it.

Also, here is a link to the popular Australian gourmet Carman's Muesli,,,
http://www.carmansmuesli.com/muesli-packaging.html

The only cereals I've seen that would qualify as Muesli /flakes/ are
just a blend of assorted common breakfast cereal flakes; oat flakes,
wheat flakes, corn flakes, etc.... Also, most flake or rolled oat
Muesli will have raisins and chopped nuts in them.

Rolled oat Muesli is also a very dense cereal since it is not all
fluffed and puffed by processing. One cup of Muesli is about like 3 or
4 cups of normal /kids/ cereal.

Like I said, the Familia Brand is very very close to the Muesli I ate
every morning when I traveled in Germany.

Familia is available either in health food stores or in the health
food section of most large grocery stores.

The first thing you should try to determine is if you need /real/
Muesli or muesli flakes. If you need muesli flakes, then I would also
look in a health food store or the health food section of your
grocer's. There are companies who have made an attempt at duplicating
Muesli in /flake/ cereal to make it more apealing to muggle kids.
These health food /flake/ versions will probably be less sweet than
the more commercial (Kelloge, Post, etc...) versions.

Hope that helps.

Steve.
