Heya Folks,
Ya want dental stories? Okay...you asked for it? You got it... <Evil Grin>
Normally, wisdom teeth aren't so bad, but when one has impacted teeth and is
immune to pain killers...that's when things are really bad! Been there,
done that...back in 1977.
I had an abscess below the gum and it was at one of my four impacted
wisdoms. It all had to be removed. That wasn't so bad; amazing what a bit
of sodium pentothal will do. It was the time after...the Novocain was
useless, the heavy-duty pain pills were worse than useless. I'm one of
those poor critters who is relatively immune to pain-killers.
In a nutshell, and with many calls to my doctor and dental surgeon, I took
seven percadan (SP?) and one codeine in five hours, wanted to amputate my
jaw, and had to endure listening to the ever-over-loud TV set of my
ever-drunken upstairs neighbor.
Suffice it to say that the next morning, I was a physical and mental wreck
coupled with the fact that my stitches all came neatly out by themselves
which sent me back to the dental surgeon who said that I'd healed
sufficiently and he wasn't going to restitch.
For the next several days I looked like a squirrel and had to concentrate on
eating on the non-gouged side of my mouth.
Talk about hell! I swear up and down and sidewise that if I have to have
any of the rest of these impacted teeth removed, I'm going to sign into a
hospital and beg/plead/demand they keep me knocked out for at least 48
hours! I'm not going through that again!
On a happier note, I wish you all a fulfilling and happy 2005. Hugs to you
all!
Lee :-)
