NTCS format

Hello Potterphiles! This is Sophia de-lurking in the hopes of getting 
some much needed information through this admirable venue. :-)

I live in Sweden--region 2 format for dvd's--but want to order a 
region 1 dvd. My dvd-player is multi-regional, so no problem there. 
However, amazon.co.uk asks byuers of this particular item to check 
wether their tv-sets are NTCS-compatible (not a clue)as the common 
system, or whachamacallit for TV-sets in europe is PAL (still no 
clue). I don't know how to figure this out, so I just thought I'd ask 
if there is anyone on here from a region 2 country who owns a multi-
regional dvd-player and if so,have you had any trouble watching 
region 1 dvd's on your TV?
