Doddie here:

It is one thing to repair glasses, a broken dish/glass/cup/cauldron
etc....but if Dumbledore saw a smashed cabinet he'd say, "repairo"
and more things than would meet the eye would be repaired.

Hence in HBP when harry did "diffindio" and "reparo"...on the HBP's
book...it worked with all the notes in tact--because he cast the
spell with the unerstanding that it would...(oh my could HBP be
teaching us a thing about spells???)

If a pre exisiting spell is already upon the object....

How much do you wanna bet that Draco never thought to do a simple
spell as "reparo"....or maybe he did(probably) despite his "add-
ons"....(OMG---love, or rather the intent of spells come into play
here!!) Malfoys motivators were fear...Harry's love and courage, and
fear, and intellect, and dextrous ambiguity, and friendship(s), and
desire....not ambition...but desire--desire to see/want those who he
loves to be healthy and happy and able to lead the life he never
led...

And if I'm wrong...trace the path of the maraurder's map! in
COS...Harry doesn't think Filch's "squibbiness" is a factor at
all...and NHN put that play in motion...just like DD's being back is
another play NHN put in motion as well...

Doddie
(who thinks NHN can rock on with is bad self--perhaps he teaches
lessons that no one sleeps through!)
