flu remedies

well, I happen to be a pharmacist, so...

First, never take more than the recommendation on the box or bottle. I
think you double dosed on aspirin, but if you just did it the one time, you
should be okay.

Was it plain alka-seltzer, or a combination product?

I would recommend acetaminophen, following manufacturers recommendations,
generally 2 tabs every 4-6 hours, not to exceed 8 tabs a day.

Keep hydrated! Caffienated beverages count as negative. You need to
replace 1 glass for every caffienated beverage, in addition to the 8 a day
you need.

The acetaminophen should make you feel tons better. For nasal decongestion,
you could try a saline nose spray or pseudoephedrine. AVOID Afrin and
related nasal sprays. The nose will become addicted to them, and you'll be
congested from rebound congestion.

Echinicea has had mixed results- it is no longer recommended for daily use
in preventing infection, but can have use in limiting duration of illness.
So you could use this now if you wish.

Hope you feel better,
Odysseyqueen
