I second this recommendation. The series has 11 books published, and
book 12 is due out in a few months. The author has a website, at
http://deverry.com/
It should be noted that parts of the website contain spoilers for the
books she has written.
She also participates on a Yahoo!Group about her books, and even runs
a livejournal, so she's an author it's easy to get in touch with.
I also recommend another book by the same author: Snare, which is a
stand-alone book. Both the Deverry-series and Snare are books that I
can re-read again and again, and each time find something new.
