I am not a lawyer so this is NOT legal advise. I don't know the real 
estate laws in your state. But where I live a lien of the type that 
you mention here will only affect your father if he ever sells his 
house. Then the lien will have to be paid. But like I said, it could 
be different where you are. Here only 2 things would cause someone 
to actually lose their house. One is being behind in the taxes and 
the other is being behind in the mortgage payments. Any other type 
of lien will only be a problem when and if the property is sold.
