Red was a regular color when I was little. It was dropped because
(choose one of these rumors) the red food coloring they used was found
to be carcinogenic, or the red food coloring they used was found to be
an aphrodisiac. I *think* tan was added to replace it, which may be
why tan was dropped when red was re-added.
I think tan and the brown are among the 21 colors that can be ordered
from the website, and I suppose they would appear in Thanksgiving
theme bags if they made Thanksgiving theme bags betweeen Halloween
(orange and black) and Christmas (red and two shades of green, used to
be red and one shade of green) theme bags. There's also a light tan
(I'm inclined to call it 'cream' or 'parchment') that appears in the
Pirates of the Caribbean theme bag advertising the upcoming movie.
I dunno how true the colors look on my monitor. It looks like the 21
colors include a navy blue that I've never seen in a real-life M + M
but not the royal blue which is one of the regular colors.
