Buzzy, go back to book 5 and read what Mrs. Weasly says about the elder
brothers who would be apparating there later that morning.
And also read the warning about apparation Mr. Weasly gave. Something about
being squeltched, or sqimmed or something like that - anyway its when you
attempt to apperate and you leave parts of your body behind.
Some folks simply do not like it. "prefer brooms" is what Mr. Weasly said if
I remember correctly.
As to why all the kids were interested.. well, its kind of like driving a
good sports car, isn't it? And the chance to drive one is your first driving
lesson; so naturaly you are going to sign up and give it a go.
