Why did you start reading HP fanfiction and why do you continue?

Greetings:

Why did you start reading (or writing) HP fanfiction?

Why do you continue to read (or write)fanfiction?

What makes a good fanfic?

Who are your top 5 fanfic authors and/or stories?

The reason I'm posing these questions is I'll be meeting with a
reporter sometime this week regarding an article she is writing on
fanfiction for our local newspaper (St. Louis Post-Dispatch) I know
what drew me to HP fanfic but was curious as to what others thought.

I'll answer my own questions first.

I started reading fanfic after GOF. During that long wait, my then
13 year old son introduced me to some the PG and PG-13 rated fics. I
found many were really well written (and many not) but was then
hooked.

I continue to read fanfiction as I believe in many cases it is better
written than JKR's books...expecially the last two. There is a depth
to fanfic you can't get in a single published book. So in effect,
JKR is operating at a disadvantage as her books are limited in length
and time.

My favorites? Barb's Psychic Serpent series, Arabella &
Zensya "After the End", Wishweaver's "Realization", Bobmin's "Sunset
Over Britain" and "Sunrise Over Britain", Lori's "Paradym of
Uncertainty Trilogy".

Please share your opinion.

Thanks.

Eleanna
