Just stumbled upon this:

It is so true.. they say that "Snape didn't kill DD, Michael Gambon
did".

I really do worry about the films and their effect on the viewers of
the future. DD is someone we are to look to as a model of the
wisest, kindest, most holy of men. He is the closest thing to God in
the series and THIS is how he is protrayed by Hollywood!!
Idiots!!! GOF would have been perfect if it were not for that man.
And I blame the writer and director too. Why didn't JKR just tell
them, DD is like God or like a great Saint. Maybe they would
have 'gotten it' then. But no, now we are left with an idiot for
DD. How is the world going to grieve the death of this DD? Too bad
Harris didn't hang in there a few more years. That would have been
perfect. He was so perfect for the part. And there are other British
actors that could have replaced him far better than this man!!

I had hoped that the HP films would become classics like many of the
old ones are. But not with this actor as the most gifted, wisest and
powerful wizard of all time. Give me a break!! The man didn't even
know that Harry didn't put his name in the cup. And grabbing Harry
and shaking him made DD look worse that Uncle Vernon, for God's
sake!!

I don't know why WB just can't get it right. There is a moral here
somewhere, that money isn't everything. They should look for the
teaching impact that these films can have on the children of the
world instead of how much money will line their pockets. This is the
chance of a lifetime to have a real impact on the moral development
of large segments of the world's children and I think that they have
blown it. Pity, because something like Harry Potter will not come
around again in our lifetime.
