Not quite, at least with my browsers "Sort By Date'
doesn't stick. It is active as long as a given
message/message list is active but the next time
I come to the group it has changed back to the default.

With the old version of Yahoo Groups, I could select
'Threaded' or 'By Date' and it would stick and stay
that way each time I accessed Yahoo Groups.

I don't mind that it starts with Newest on Top, that
gives me a quick view of whether new posts have
occurred and roughly how many their are, but once I
see that, I then want them to sort and stay sorted
by 'newest last'. The simplest way to do that /was/
to select 'Messages' and that would remove the forced
sort, and set everything back to no sort, which is
effectvely 'accending sort'.

I know I can accomplish that with the main list by
selecting 'Sort By Date', but I have a main menu, I
should be able to use it. It is a matter of logic as
well as a matter of function, there is no logical or
functional reason to shut off the menu items.

As I said on some pages just above the top of the message
text box/frame is an item 'Message List' that will bring
up the Main Message List, but it brings it up with the
current message at the top of the list. Usually when I
want to go back to the Message List, I want to return to
the end of the Main Message List. The simplest way to do
that /was/ to select 'Messages' from the Main Menu.

So, it is not that I can't find 'work-arounds' and yes
that is exactly what they are, it that I shouldn't have
to. The Main Menu is there, why shouldn't I be able to
use it? Again, it goes to the logic of disabling the
menu items, and in the end, there is no logic to it.

Yahoo will only fix the problem if they get complaints,
and they will only get complaints if people respond when
a problem occurs. During their last major change to the
groups format, we got them to make several changes and
reinstate several features that they had deleted.

So, the squeaky wheel gets the grease. Please squeak.

Just passing it along.
