Full Metal Alchemist and HP

I was looking at Amazon for books about Alchemy and stumbled upon a 
really cool looking pendant. I looked at it closely and saw that they 
had all of the major symbols of Alchemy on it. WOW, I want one. So 
before I buy it I wanted to find out what Full Metal Alchemy was about 
so that I wasn't wearing something that was really a symbol of some 
dark wacky thing that I know nothing about. So I went looking on the 
Internet. And it seems it is a Japanese Anime.  I don't know anything 
about such things. I went to Wikipeda and found some interesting 
information. If you read this carefully you will see some simularies 
with the HP series. Souls being bonded to objects, the ideas from 
Western Alchemy, and so on. 

Is there anyone here that knows about Full Metal Alchemy that can tell 
us more? Do you see any simularities with HP?
