Kemper now:
I've watched FMA quite a few times.  The difference I see with 
regards to soul bonding to objects is that the soul of Alfonse (the 
Elric brother who's body is dead but whose soul is attached to a 
metal-man) is complete.  It is _all_ of Alfonse's soul and not a 
piece of his soul ripped from the whole.

I don't think it's the soul seperated from the body that's evil, I 
think it's the soul seperated from itself that is.
