Hm, okay; I tried highlighting and copying where the text 
would be and it did allow me to copy (and then paste), so
*something* is there.  However, trying to change the font
didn't end up showing me anything, unfortunately. Pasted
it into a blank email and then into notepad, and even 
forwarded the message to my gmail account and changed the
setting there to Arabic text, and nothing.  But yes, there's
definitely something there..

Grr, Outlook Express will let me change the encoding when
sending a message, but not to read them; Western European 
(Windows) is the default, no way to change it.

Yes, this probably the sort of thing I need to explain to 
them; I'll need to find out how to make that change in 
yahoo.co.in accounts.

It does indeed, gives me a better idea of what the problem

Oh thanks, Steve, I appreciate that!  I do have one I can 
forward to you; you'd certainly know better than me how to 
figure this out. ;-)
