I guess the definition 'Understood' does make sense in
both these contexts.
But what is the origin of the phrase? At this point I'm
trying to find a connection between 'twigged' and
'understood'.
Thanks.

Yeah, it's confusing.. hang on...

He [Daniel] met singer Kele Okereke at the Reading Festival.
Okereke didn't know who he [Daniel] was, until the actor's [Daniel's] friend
said, 'Uh, this is Daniel Radcliffe ...' Then he [Kele] 'sort of
**twigged** [understood/figured it out/put it all together] and it was one
of those situations where it
was a bit embarrassing for a moment'."

Most likely they are saying that all the "hacks" out there are given the
same thype of questions during an interview and Daniel is capable of
explaining himself or givining an answer that isn't lame or stupid, unlike
the "hacks" the reporter is referring to.
Hope that helps!
Jeremiah ('cause it's the only thing that makes sense to me...)
