Brit-Life: Washer but no Dryer? Really?

Once again I have been browsing London Real Estate 
eagerly spending the Lottery money I haven't won yet.
Again, looking in the Fulham and Battersea areas (SW6 &
SW11). By the way, TimesOnLine.com's real estate section
is pretty good, with links to many estate agents. The 
apartements are usually relatively small by America 
standards two bedrooms and 600 to 1000 sq.ft. ranging in
price between £250,000 and £500,000, and they are usually
very nice, even posh.

I've been noticing that the kitchens usually have a 
compact under-counter front-loading washing machine,
and here is the problem, not a Clothes Dryer in sight?

So, to all our Brit's and Brit-o-philes, I ask this,
are these most likely a combination washer/dryer, which
I have never seen in the USA, or do posh people in
posh apartments simply make do without a dryer? 

Just curious.
