Elisabet chimes in:
For the last two HP releases, I'm fairly certain bookstores were under
contract not to break the seals on the shipping boxes before the
release day. So sorry, no perks for the employees there.
I am a bit curious how Amazon and BN etc. handle the security as they
do have to pack individual books for shipment before the release date.
My mom actually worked in an Amazon warehouse when between jobs a few
years ago and they tried to recruit her back for the HBP release. I
suspect from hearing about her previous experience though that
warehouse employees would actually have very little chance to open the
books, anyway, and would likely have had to sign in blood that they
wouldn't look or tell anything about the HP books before release.
