Well, it is a 'chaise', from the French meaning Chair,
that you lounge in. Also known as a 'lounge chair'.

Also, note that 'longue' doesn't seem to be a word, at
least it's not in the two dictionaries I consulted.

**In addition, I just consulted my 4 inch thick Library
dictionary and Dictionary.com, neither lists 'longue' 
as a word. 

Silly as it may be, I think most Americans assumed
that 'longue' was a misspelling and that 'lounge' was
the only alternate word that made sense. Plus, when it
comes to grammer and such, we can be a little lazy.

I think most Americas, though it could just be me, 
say 'chase lougue' (chays lounj) rather than 'shaaz
long'.
