Yes that is good too. It brings to life the beginning of the conflict 
and it can be seen how the rest of it happened. To me it put John of 
Gaunt in a good light for a change.
Anya Seton is not a bad writer, although not as good IMHO as Sharon 
Penman and of course my favourite who is  Dorothy Dunnett
