You should ask your tame English friend... :-)

It's Cluff... i.e. rhyming with rough.

Any surname like that is usually the same: Barraclough, Brough.

PS I think Derby played my old home town side Burnley didn't they? 
You'll be interested to know that they gained promotion to the 
Premier Division this season (first time for 33 years) and in their 
first match beat Man United!!
