Annemehr:

I'm not worried about preservation of the species per se.
Acromantulas are not native to Scotland, and presumably there are
plenty more where they come from. Still, I can't imagine that
*every* one was killed in the battle of Hogwarts, even if the dome
was destroyed. It seems like quite a few of the little juveniles
ought to have been able to scuttle away under tree roots and into the
brush.

I like to think so, anyway.

I actually do like rattlesnakes. They are cool. True, I don't want
a pet one, but I appreciate their existence.

Even mosquitos and wasps, I would not wish to eradicate. Even they
seem to go about their little lives with whatever purpose such little
selves can have.

We have to get down to the particularly nasty viruses and lethal
bacteria before I just have to trust in God's plans in the matter. ;)
