There are a surprising number of monarchies in the world. In Western
Europe alone, there are - in addition to the UK - Spain, Belgium, The
Netherlands, Norway, Sweden and Denmark. In addition, there are the
Principalities of Liechtenstein and Monaco and the Grand Duchy of
Luxembourg.
1973 was the date of the official abolition of the Greek monarchy. The
effective date was a coup in 1967. I recall visiting Greece in 1969 with
a school group and it was still a bit of a "look over your shoulder before
you say anything sort of set-up".
