I've just bought the new release HP7 DVD which has some deleted scenes on 
the second disc; I'm not sure if that's all of them.

But I agree entirely with you. I think one of the great plus points of the LOTR 
extended editions was that the extra scenes were incorporated into the main 
body of the film.

Digressing slightly, I think it's a pity that they deleted the two scenes with 
the Dursleys because I think it brought out the fact - clearly spelled out in 
the book - that there had been a shift in Dudley's perception of Harry. I 
have muttered darkly before about time being wasted on scenes which are 
not part of the story and really don't add anything to the film - the classic 
case being the attack on the Burrow in HBP. The scene with Dudley would 
have been a valuable one to keep rather than the silly one of Harry being 
asked to zip up Ginny's dress.
