Hi Lee, I do not mind disfunctional and I think there are plenty of disfunctional people in the world, so in the world of literary realism I totally get it, but I read about misery and poverty in the Russia of 19 century and I empathized with those characters, they had all kind of qualities in them, not just the worst ones. That is what I found sadly lacking in this book.
