Just got around to Monday's paper (LA Times) last night and there was a
big article on the movie and what the fans want as opposed to what the
studio/filmmaker may do.

Said most fans were not thrilled with the choice of Chris Columbus
(I'll go along with that).

Said Columbus plans on a British Harry; studio agrees they want British
kids and hopes to shoot the film in London.

The following were mentioned in the article:

Snape: Alan Rickman, Johnny Depp, Christopher Walken (my choice is Alan
Cummings from Cabaret; Rickman would be great as Voldemort)

Hermione: Hatty Jones from Madeline, Lindsay Lohan from Parent Trap

Mrs. Weasley: Rosie O'Donnell (if she can master the accent, she'd be
wonderful, especially since she turned so many of us onto the books),
Reba McEntire (because of the red hair; but I don't think it ever says
that she has red hair, only her husband and all the kids)

Hagrid: Robin Williams, Gerard Depardieu, Peter Mayhew who was Chewbacca,
Andre the Giant if he was still alive, Billy Connolly

The Dursleys: the Bundys from Married with Children

Mrs. Dursley: Shelley Duvall, Brenda Blethyn

Mrs. Dursley: Jim Broadbent from Topsy-Turvy

Professor Dumbledore: John Gielgud, Peter O'Toole, Ian McKellen, Peter
Ustinov, Sean Connery, Patrick Stewart, Patrick Godfrey who played Da
Vinci in Ever After (we talked about this at last week's chat and came
up with Michael Caine)

Voldemort: Jack Nicholson
