Oh, I so much wanted Harry to go live with Black, heck I want to go live
with Black : ) , but the Durselys provide such a vivid counterpoint to
Hogwarts. His escapes from the Durseleys have been great, and it provides
such a relief to get back to Hogwarts.
The Durseleys also provide (as Dummbledor understood) a grounding for
Harry. He isn't famous or special there. They have provided Harry with
empathy, not by being empathetic, mind you, but by treating Harry so
poorly, Harry can empathize with witches and wizards at hogwarts that
aren't particularly special.
As much as I want Sirius around more, I think JKR might save sirius for
some other adventure, and the durseleys as the wizarding relief (so to
speak...kind of like comic relief)
I'll email you on your request for an interview...sounds intriguing
(I can't spell tonight!!!)
