Hi:

I think I too assumed that James & Lily were most likely
Gryffindors. Based especially on what we know about James and his
character, I would be surprised if he were not a Gryffindor. Mr. &
Mrs. Weasley were both in Gryffindor. I wonder if they are too much
older than the Potters would have been or if they might have overlapped
at Hogwarts to some extent? I suspect they are too much older since,
as we've discussed before, Bill & Charlie Weasley must be in their early
to mid-20s when Ron & Harry are 11-13.

Who *are* the heads of Hufflepuff & Ravenclaw houses? I don't think we
know, do we? What are your guesses? Since the DADA professor has such
high turnover, maybe he/she doesn't have a house? Flitwick might be a
good Hufflepuff. IMO, McGonagall *seems* the most intellectual of all
the professors from what we know, but she can't be head of Gryffindor
& Ravenclaw.

Margaret -- That's quite an interesting theory about Snape & the
4-some. It's certainly possible. But, then again, I'm not so sure it's
written in stone that it's exactly 5 boys in each house each year. I
would bet the numbers vary somewhat. Otherwise, the Sorting Hat really
couldn't divide everyone up according to personality -- there would
have to be some that would be sorted just to make the numbers turn out
right. I think it's most likely that James was a Gryffindor (and Sirius &
Lupin for sure -- but what about Pettigrew? Wonder if he might have been
in another house?). Snape seems like the Slytherin profile for sure.

I think this is from another HP listserve, but do we even know if
there are 5 girls in Gryffindor for Hermione's year? There's Hermione,
Lavender Brown, Pavarti Patil. Are there 2 other girls in Gryffindor for
that year? Pavarti has a twin, but we know nothing about her and if she
ended up in the same house or not.

I really need new hobbies . . . .

Penny
