When Hagrid told his story about borrowing the flying motorcycle from
Sirius Black, I went back and reread the first chapter of Sorcerer's
Stone. Sure enough, there it was just as Hagrid reported. Even the bit
about needing to return the bike.

Ms. Rowling is being very consistent through the series which tells me
she spent a lot of time thinking about where the books are going. I
imagine its hard enough to be perfectly consistent from the start
of a book to the end... Mark Twain savaged James F. Cooper for being
inconsistent... and harder still across a series of books. Look at the
Star Wars movies and you can see what kind of a logical box a stray line
can put you in. So far, I've found nothing along these lines to critize
in the Harry Potter books.

As for Harry becoming the captain of the team. We know that Oliver
was the captain of the Griffindor team his fifth, sixth and seventh
year at Hogwarts (Books 1, 2 & 3). Since Harry was the first first
year to play in many years, its safe to say Oliver didn't start until
his second year. So Oliver was Captain of the team in his fourth year
on the team. The next season will be Harry's fourth year on the team
(Book 4). It fits together and Harry does love Quidditch.

Somehow I don't think it will be though. Oliver spent a lot of time
working out new plans and training schedules and what not. I think Harry
will save his time for other things like fighting off he who must not
be named. Perhaps one of the Weasley twins.
