"the world has crushed all the imagination out of them".

Oh, please. Can't someone not like what you like? I liked the Potter
books, but in no way do they compare with the Alice books or Lord of
the Rings -- FOR ME. Other people may feel differently. THEY ARE ALLOWED
THIS INDISCRETION.

Some people prefer reading about quantum mechanics. Does this mean that
they have no imagination? Has it been "crushed" out of them? No. They
simply prefer something else. If we were all the same, then nothing
would be interesting -- we'd all be the same person.

This is not even mentioning what happens over time. There have been some
very popular novels that have become tinder over time. Can't people have
different "time views" in the same period of time? I predict that Harry
Potter novels will fall -- in some measurable amount of time -- into
the category of "quaintly popular". Must everyone today exist in your
"pop" culture?

Allow people to have different opinions and lifestyles -- afterall,
isn't this the driving premise of the Potter books?
